Algeria and Greece Strengthen Parliamentary Cooperation

Mr. Azouz Nasri, President of the Council of the Nation, received Mr. Nikitas Kaklamanis, President of the Parliament of the Hellenic Republic, at Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algiers on Friday evening, September 25, 2026.

Kaklamanis arrived in Algeria at the head of a parliamentary delegation as part of an official visit to the country at the invitation of the President of the Council of the Nation. The visit will continue until September 28, 2026.

The visit comes as part of efforts to strengthen existing relations between Algeria and the Hellenic Republic and to open new prospects for Parliamentary Cooperation between the two legislative institutions. During the visit, the Hellenic Parliament President laid a wreath at the memorial commemorating the martyrs of Algeria’s glorious War of Liberation and observed a minute of silence in tribute to their memory.

Kaklamanis was accompanied during his visit to the Martyr’s Memorial by Mohamed Larbi Slimani, Vice President of the Council of the Nation in charge of external activities, and Mohamed Omaroun, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and the Algerian Community Abroad.

The visit to the Martyr’s Memorial carries a symbolic significance, as the site represents one of Algeria’s most prominent landmarks commemorating the sacrifices of the martyrs of the country’s War of Liberation.
